The heart of the church are the soul-winners (personal evangelists) , bus drivers, Sunday School teachers, pastors and missionaries who go the extra mile in trying to win the lost to Jesus. These pages are to recognize and thank them. Started February 15, 2011 there are few names here today but we hope to recognize soulwinners, soulwinning churches, and soulwinning web-sites you know or have known personally. I. The person who won me to Christ was…Margaret Trott, daughter of pastor L. L. Trott who was in Denver City TX in 1950 when I was saved. Mrs. Trott lead me to Christ in Sunday School (when I was nine) and encouraged me to go forward in the invitation.

II. The person who trained me to be a soulwinner was….Jerry Thorpe, who was pastor in El Paso in 1963 at the time. I had taken Personal Evangelism classes in Bible College, for which I will be eternally grateful, but Brother Thorpe took me door-to-door winning souls. Thank the Lord for his training.

III. Heroes who encouraged me to “stay on the firing line” winning souls were…..

Thank the Lord for Dr. John R. Rice and the “Sword of the Lord” for keeping me on the firing line for souls; Dr. Jack Hyles, my hero, who went from church to church all over America encouraging us all to win souls.

IV. Outstanding soul-winners who I have known personally and where they were at the time include Dr. Bob Gray of Longview Baptist Temple, Tom Haughey of McAllen TX, Herb Stoneman of Utah/Idaho and Arizona, and Philip Davila of Longview Texas, a teenager at the time. Thank God for their influence to others in winning souls. Philip Davila carried his Bible and read it constantly and won 500 to the Lord in a year. A local pastor is also a great and wonderful soul-winner, Danny Gandy of Greenville, Texas.
